The Louvre Museum
Originally built as a fortified medieval castle, since the 18th century the Louvre has been home to one of the most famous museums in the world, housing a wide range of works, dating from antiquity to the 19th century, from Oriental and Western cultures and covering all the artistic forms, from painting to sculpture. The museum itself is surrounded by the Tuileries Gardens and the Place du Carrousel, excellent places for walking or enjoying outdoor activities.
Opening Hours
Every day from 9.00 to 6.00pm, except on Tuesdays and bank holidays (1st January, 1st May, 1st and 25th December 25th)
Late opening until 9.45pm on Wednesdays and Fridays
Admission: €10 for permanent collections
Free admission for anyone on the every first Sunday of every month and on 14th July
Free admission for EEC residents under 25 and disabled visitors (with a carer)
